I love a good Irish blessing any day, but they are usually only remembered on St. Patrick’s Day. This Irish blessings rainbow coloring page is the perfect way to celebrate the holiday!
Though my family has been in the U.S.A. since the 1600’s, our roots are Irish and we love to celebrate that fact!
You’ve probably heard a few of these Irish sayings:
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
May God grant you many years to live,
For sure He must be knowing
The earth has angels all too few
And heaven is overflowing.
May you have warm words on a cold evening,
A full moon on a dark night,
And the road downhill all the way to your door.
There are several Irish sayings that we love to quote to each other… though there are a few that are not appropriate for a toddler activity!
But the one that I remember the most from my childhood was that first one. My mom had it hanging in our home the whole time I was growing up!
Irish Blessing Toddler Activity
This St. Patrick’s Day, I wanted to incorporate our love of Irish sayings into a fun toddler learning activity for my son.
Not only does it help him learn to color inside the lines, but it also teaches colors and color word recognition!
I ended up printing 4 copies so that I could color with him and he could have new ones if he felt he “messed up”. Which, my little perfectionist definitely needed the extra copies!
Even though I would tell him he was doing a great job, he wanted to color just inside the lines as much as possible. Sweet boy!
