This playdough marble maze is 100% customizable and so much fun! It’s fun, it’s cheap, and you and your kids can change it up as much as you want. Store bought marble mazes can be expensive, so we came up with this DIY playdough marble maze to play instead of shelling out the big bucks!

Make a DIY Playdough Marble Maze

Grab some playdough (or make your own!), a cookie sheet, and a marble. That’s seriously all you need!

Take the playdough and form the ‘walls’ of the maze on your cookie sheet. There doesn’t need to be any rhyme or reason to how the walls are put up!

Help your kids understand that they’ll need to get the marble from one end of the maze to other so get creative in putting up obstacles! Don’t forget, it’s only playdough so it will be easy to change the maze over and over again!

Playing With a DIY Playdough Marble Maze

Once the maze is created, grab your marble and put it at the start!

Children will hold the sides of the cookie sheet and tilt it different directions to make the marble go where they want it! The point is to get the marble to the end of the maze.

This may seem like it is just for fun but there are other valuable benefits too!

Manipulating the playdough is fantastic for strengthening fine motor skills. This is important for children to be able to tie their shoes, zip a zipper and for handwriting. Plus playdough is a great sensory exploration activity!

Shaping the marble maze involves critical thinking and planning skills.

Solving the maze itself helps with hand eye coordination, motor skills and even teamwork if siblings or friends are working on it together!

This playdough marble maze is a super fun activity that kids will want to do over and over. Let them, because it is super beneficial!
