My son just turned 4 years old, and so I’m finally getting to start with a more concerted effort on the reading front.

He’s been resisting learning how to read for about a year, though he could have easily done so… as a result I’ve had to get a little more creative in how I approach the subject!

I assumed that since his father and I both love to read, that he would naturally be drawn to it, but I was wrong. Ha!

However, as a former kindergarten teacher who has taught many children how to read, I had a few tricks up my sleeve!

I created a set of phonics worksheets to help bridge the gap between starting to learn to read and the games and activities he already enjoys!

This a great activity that can be stretched out over several weeks, if desired. Just do one sheet a week, or even every other day if your child is really interested!

My son has asked to do these sheets several times and is FINALLY starting to sound out 3 letter words after doing the sheets twice!
