How Domino Fun Math Worksheets Help Kids Love Math
Personally I really enjoy math, and I believe that anyone who wants to can learn to love it! Change the way a parent thinks about math, and you’ve already taken huge step in helping their kids feel confident about learning math! I want to make sure that my kiddos aren’t intimidated by math, so I approach it with a positive attitude.
We have bought some math board games, some math card games, and we play math games with a traditional deck of cards and dominoes- we have so much fun playing with them! Playing IS learning! These domino fun math worksheet printables are an affordable way to reinforce (or teach!) math skills while having fun.
The best part about these domino fun math worksheets is that there are multiple ways that they can be used. Children at a variety of math levels will enjoy and benefit from them! That’s why my first suggestion is to print and then laminate your domino fun math worksheets. Kids can play with them over and over again for years if they are laminated. Another option is to use dry erase pouches which can be used with dry erase markers too!
Ways to Use Domino Fun Math Worksheets
There are two pages included in this domino fun math worksheet printable! The first page is a recording sheet. Use as many or as few dominoes as you would like. This sheet is designed to practice different types of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division!
Set out one domino at a time. The first square is the first part of the equation. Have your child write or dictate the first number, then the plus sign (or minus, multiplication, or division symbol depending on what math you’re working on!), followed by the next number on the domino. Next comes the equal sign and finally, the answer!
You can do just a few, or keep going down the recording sheet until it is full then erase and start over. BONUS IDEA: This activity can also be done with a deck of cards!
The second domino fun math worksheet is for students who are ready for a little more of a challenge. The two top circles will each have their own domino, and students need to add both numbers on each domino together before completing the equation!
You can finish there, or take it one more step further: increase the challenge by asking your child to find a domino that had the same number of dots as the answer to the equation. This won’t work for every single equation, but it will work for most and it is a fun way to extend the activity!
There are lots of simple and more complex math skills strengthened with this simple activity. Plus, kids will be having so much fun doing their math that they won’t have a chance to be intimidated by it!
